On 10th February, during its sale The World of Hergé, Tintin’s Creator, Artcurial auctioned Hergé’s original cover drawing for the 1942 edition of Tintin in America. Reprinted in 1946 for the first colour edition of the album, this Indian ink drawing sold for €2,158,400. This exceptional and unique masterpiece, which has fascinated several generations of readers without losing its modernity, set a new world record for an original black and white drawing by Hergé.

No less than 103 other lots dedicated to Tintin’s Creator World were also offered for sale. Among them, Coke in Stock, a pencil drawing for page 42 of this album, was sold for €216,480, alongside another pencil page of Flight 714 for Sydney, which sold for €209,920. A spectacular drawing in Indian ink and watercolour for the 20th anniversary card of Le Journal de Tintin also sold for €52,480. Finally, a drawing inspired by the world of the Blue Lotus sold for €39,360.
