Automobilia

Automobilia

The term Automobilia refers to any historical or collectible object related to the automobile, particularly racing and motor sport personalities.

As part of Artcurial Motorcars, the Automobilia department has experienced a new momentum since 2013 with its own identity. Under the responsibility of Sophie Peyrache, they organise three sales per year during events such as Rétromobile or Le Mans Classic, which are a must for collectors worldwide.

Begun in the 1970s by Maître Hervé Poulain, the speciality has diversified and opened up to the automobile world in all its forms, meeting the expectations of enthusiasts and collectors.

The department has sold off important collections such as the Pasquale Giordano collection in 2016, the Vincent Saja collection and the Martine and Hervé Ogliastro collection at Rétromobile 2017. The collection of Guiseppe Neri, a friend of Enzo Ferrari, presenting historical pieces such as original engines, miniatures, autographed photographs and Formula 1 spare parts, was also offered to collectors in 2021.

Whether for historical or iconic pieces, the department achieves remarkable prices. For example, Ayrton Senna’s prototype helmet from the 1990 season was sold for €98,520 in 2015, the rare Breguet special chronograph for Bugatti was bought by the Breguet watchmaking museum for €78,000 in 2016, and the 1930 Bugatti Baby from the Hervé and Martine Ogliastro collection was sold for €90,500 in 2017.

Artcurial’s specialists are at your disposal for free and confidential valuations of your Automobilia-related objects.
