On 26th January, during the Paris Haute Couture week, Artcurial, in collaboration with Christie's, presented Didier Ludot's collection entitled My Secret Fashion Show. The entire collection totalled €1,047,539 and achieved the best result for the sale of a vintage couture collection in France. The sale was greeted by numerous pre-emptions and purchases from prestigious cultural institutions and Haute Couture houses.

 

The sale featured more than 400 pieces from Didier Ludot's collection, all carefully selected during his 48 years of career as a renowned Haute Couture antique dealer of the Palais Royal. The collection included the greatest fashion designers such as Alaïa, Balenciaga, Balmain, Chanel, Dior, Grès or Yves Saint Laurent alongside Jean Dessès, Marc Vaughan or Rudi Gernreich, revealing a more intimate and secret side of the taste of Didier Ludot.

Among the highlights of the sale was a jacket by Yves Saint Laurent, embroidered by Maison Lesage from the “Hommage à Bonnard” collection, which sold for €34,112, alongside an evening gown in white lace and black velvet bows by the same designer, made in homage to Auguste Renoir's 1876 painting La Balençoire, which fetched €19,680.

 

Not to mention a Tati print denim skirt suit by Alaïa, from the summer 1992 collection, sold for €14,432, a world record. A caramel lambskin perfecto by the same designer from 1986 also sold online for €5,248. A sublime black and white printed silk Balenciaga ensemble from 1960 by Maison Sache sold for €34,112 and a grey and white pekiné evening dress and stole by the same designer from around 1945, were sold for €32,800. A magnificent emerald velvet evening gown by Christian Dior from the Fall-Winter 1952 collection, which fetched €20,992, was another highlight of this exceptional sale, which delighted enthusiasts and collectors.
