Artcurial is back on the Riviera for the summer, at the Hôtel Hermitage, from 16th to 19th July. The Watches, Jewellery, Hermès & Luxury Bags and Monaco Sculptures departments and, for the very first time, the Design department, preceded by public exhibitions, will hold auctions with lots selected to appeal to collectors and enthusiast.
Important Watches
& Le Temps est Féminin - 16th and 17th July
This summer, Artcurial will bring together all watch and vintage lovers with two much-anticipated events: Important Watches and Le Temps est Féminin, an auction dedicated exclusively to women’s watches.
The Important Watches auction will feature iconic watches and particularly rare vintage pieces. The Panda version of the famous Daytona with a cream dial and black sub-counters will be presented. A beautiful vintage piece from 1968, ref. 6239, in an excellent state of preservation that makes it almost unheard of on the market today. A Speedmaster model by Omega made especially for the RAID, the elite unit of the French Police. This edition was designed in 2018 by the Parisian watchmaker Antoine de Macedo in partnership with Omega. In 2021, Artcurial put this collector’s watch on the market for the first time by auctioning the most desirable piece of this edition, n°1/250. Donated by Jean-Baptiste Dulion, the Commander of the RAID, the watch was sold for the benefit of police orphans for the sum of €70,000. The Jaeger LeCoultre Manufacture and its unmissable Reverso, the company’s best-seller for over 90 years, will be featured in the sale of a private collection. This collection, belonging to an informed enthusiast, includes 10 ultra-original Reversos!
Given that Artcurial has made Rolex/Comex “tool watches” one of its specialties, a Submariner ref. 16610 supplied to the Compagnie Maritime d’Expertise de Marseille is sure to be one of the most sought-after diving watches in the sale. Le Temps est Féminin sale includes stunning pieces of jewellery from leading jewellery houses such as Piaget, Chopard and Van Cleef & Arpels!
High Jewellery - 16th, 17th & 19th July
The jewellery industry gathers in Monaco for what has become a tradition for collectors and lovers of jewellery and precious stones. Hailed for the success of its January auction, which generated almost €3,3M, the department once again features a fine array of contemporary and vintage jewellery, with iconic names such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Boucheron, as well as rarer names that are just as well-known in public sales. Extraordinary gemstones will once again sparkle on the Rock of Monaco and white, yellow and pink diamonds of all shapes and sizes will be starring as always!
Hermès & Luxury Bags - 18th July
For the past twenty years, Artcurial has been holding auctions exclusively devoted to Hermès items. The Hermès Vintage and Hermès & Luxury Bags auctions have become key events for unearthing rare gems. Following the success of the auction held at the beginning of the year in Monaco, the Fashion & Luxury Accessories department is once again auctioning off several bags in summer colours from the most illustrious luxury brands.
Monaco Sculptures - 18th July
The 4th edition of Monaco Sculptures is now underway! Artcurial is delighted to take over the gardens and palaces of the Principality once again with a new exhibition of sculptures. The first works have been placed in the Jardins de la Petite Afrique and Saint James featuring Wang Keping, Philippe Hiquily, Pol Bury and Hubert Le Gall. This edition will feature some forty sculptures that will be on display until the end of July and sold at an auction on 18th July at the Hôtel Hermitage.
Design sul Mare - 19th July
For the very first time in the Principality, Artcurial will be presenting a private Monegasque collection of the most emblematic pieces of Italian design on 19th July. More than 90 pieces of historical design are represented by the best architects and designers such as Gio Ponti, Gino Sarfatti, Fausto Melotti, and Gabriella Crespi. There are also some outstanding pieces by the Campana brothers, such as the Settimio cabinet, of which only three models were made, one of which is in the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. This sale will be part of a broader program of Artcurial’s summer sales in Monaco which will focus on luxury and contemporary art with Monaco Sculptures, the Principality’s key event.
