On the occasion of Paris Fashion Week, Artcurial’s Fashion & Luxury Accessories department will offer three consecutive sales, enough to satisfy the appetite of luxury lovers as well as the most discerning collectors.
Karl Lagerfeld’s polysemy: a plural German collection
Stylist, photographer, draughtsman, designer, director, but also editor, Karl Lagerfeld’s creative genius seems to know no limits. His incredible appetite for culture in all its forms has made him a chameleon of style and yet, even without a signature, the Lagerfeld touch is unique.
From 27th September to 4th October, Artcurial will highlight the work of Karl Lagerfeld in an Online Only sale featuring around one hundred items from a private collection: posters, photographs and drawings that recount the career of a multi-talented man, a true icon of the 20th century.
Among the works offered for sale, we will be able to discover a drawing made for the Chanel Métiers d’art “Paris-Salzburg” collection in 2014 with felt pens and grease pencils enhanced with touches of Tipp-ex, estimated at €2,500 - €3,000, or two very colourful photographs of the famous American fashion journalist André Léon Talley, estimated at €100 - 200. The exhibition of this 100% digital auction will be held at the Hôtel Marcel Dassault on the Champs Élysées, at the same time as the exhibition of works by Charlie Le Mindu and a selection of Chanel pieces designed by Karl Lagerfeld.
Charlie Le Mindu: already iconic “Haute Coiffure” works
In the wake of the Lagerfeld sale, an exceptional auction will be held on Wednesday 5th October at the Hôtel Marcel Dassault, where twenty-one works designed by Charlie Le Mindu throughout his career will be offered for sale. Charlie Le Mindu, who created the concept of “Haute Coiffure”, understands the ambivalent nature of hair, grasping it as both a material of intimacy and a social marker. The result is a series of striking hair works that question our own identity.
This radical and innovative approach to art has already earned Charlie the recognition of numerous museums. In addition, he has gained international recognition by collaborating with some of the most influential artists of our time. These include Lady Gaga, Lana del Rey and Dua Lipa. Finally, Charlie Le Mindu has countless collaborations with the greatest fashion designers, from Alexander McQueen to Jean Paul Gaultier to Thierry Mugler.
Will be offered for auction the iconic Blonde Lips, estimated at €100,000 - 150,000, worn by Lady Gaga in the Bad Romance video, undoubtedly the most striking work ever produced by Charlie Le Mindu.
Timeless Chanel: from tweed jackets and quilted bags to rare and limited pieces
What would a Fashion Week be without Chanel? Artcurial will be holding an Online Only sale from October 21st to October 27th featuring over 300 pieces that have made the House of Chanel’s DNA. This auction of Chanel by Lagerfeld pieces will mix great classics, rare items and limited editions. The perfect opportunity to treat yourself or a friend to a timeless piece of luxury: little tweed jackets, quilted bags and chain jewellery.
In addition to clothing and accessories, Artcurial will be selling original lifestyle pieces such as a yoga ball estimated at €220 - €320 and a La Petite Coco doll, created for the reopening of the Chanel boutique in Soho, New York, in 2010, estimated at €2,200 - €3,200.
