Si cette montre est restée entre les mains de son premier propriétaire, plongeur à la Comex de 1972 à 1985, c'est sans doute qu'il s'est construit au fil des missions un lien indéfectible entre le plongeur et sa montre outil qui lui a été parfois d'un grand secours.

Dans cette version sous la référence 5514, cette montre est une évolution importante dans le développement des montres de plongées grâce à l'utilisation de cette valve à hélium sur la carrure que l'on retrouve par la suite sur de nombreuses montres de plongées Rolex.

Si beaucoup de choses ont été écrites sur la Comex et Rolex, cet exemple se distingue notamment par l'ensemble de la documentation qui l'accompagne ainsi que cette médaille commémorative qui est un rare témoignage de reconnaissance offert au plongeur.

When Rolex presented its new caliber 727, there was an upgrade over much of the Daytona line, Reference 6239 became 6262 while Reference 6241 became Reference 6264.
