Until 24th February, the Fine Wine & Spirits department is presenting more than 1,300 lots at auction during an online sale featuring a fine selection of Côte-Rôtie and Château d'Yquem.
The two sales sessions will start one day apart. From 16th to 23rd February, the first part will present lots 1 to 613, composed of red and white Bordeaux wines.
Among the 517 lots of red Bordeaux wines, premier crus and prestige wines are honored with more than 250 lots of bottles and magnums from Châteaux Ausone, Cheval Blanc, Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion, Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild and Petrus. Many old vintages wines that are particularly well preserved in humid and cool cellars, will please the enthusiasts of mature wines, with many 1.5-liter magnums, from the 1970s to the 1980s. And also in 75cl bottle format some highlights like Château Haut Brion, Petrus and Latour 1989.
Among “non-speculative” wines, Sauternes and Barsac remain attractive ones. After a few decades in the cellar, their aromas improve, the sweetness fading with time and giving way to the complexity of the rich and tasty notes of honey, candied fruit, nuts, hazelnuts and spices. Here, we have a great highlight with 20 lots of Châteaux d'Yquem, from the years 1942 to 2002, and also bottles of Châteaux Climens 1934 and 1937, which will be absolutely delicious.
The second part will take place one day later, from 17th to 24th February. It will be dedicated to lots 614 to 1313 and will open with red and white Burgundy wines, including the best signatures of the best winemakers.
Great estates are presented, such as, for example, very fine references from JF Coche Dury whose rare wines are always very sought after by wine lovers. But also at Armand Rousseau or even this extremely rare Musigny from Domaine Leroy estimated at €29,000 - 30,000.
The Côtes du Rhône wines will also be honored with a very fine collection of Côte-Rôtie. The slopes of the right bank of the Rhône with their extreme relief give Syrah one of its finest expressions. Associated with Viognier, the wines of Côte-Rôtie give complex nectars with great finesse.
The most northerly of the Rhône crus has about sixty estates, of which we offer here a sample of the greatest winegrowers with, among others, Mathilde and Yves Gangloff, the Domaine Jamet, Paul Jaboulet Ainé, René Rostaing and the Domaine Guigal. Now gone, we offer for sale a few bottles of the much desired Gentaz Dervieux, one of the greatest winemakers of the 80s, including a bottle from 1991, his last vintage. The vines now belong to René Rostaing, who brings all his remarkable know-how to these Côte-Rôtie wines.
Many references of Champagne will delight lovers of bubbles as well as, as usual in winter, beautiful spirits of Cognac and Armagnac but also magnificent Japanese whiskeys known for their finesse and delicacy.
